REQUIRED MATERIALS
All students will need an instrument in good working condition to use for Orchestra and Band. Instruments can be rented from several local music stores. Please visit the "Music Stores" page on this website for local music stores where you can rent an instrument and get the required method book. Please refer to the supply list below for other required materials.
An Important Note About Instruments
Renting an instrument is highly recommended over purchasing an instrument.
String instruments come in different sizes and your student will likely need to go up in size at some point. The only instrument we would recommend purchasing is a Bell Kit if your student has signed up for Percussion.
PLEASE DO NOT BUY A CHEAP INSTRUMENT ONLINE.
Low cost instruments are usually poor quality and will make it difficult for your student to play. If you find an instrument and are unsure about it's quality, please contact Mrs. McKay ([email protected])
All students should have an instrument by the week of September 27.
If you have any questions about obtaining an instrument, please contact Mrs. McKay ([email protected]).
Can my child borrow an instrument from the school?
YES! There are limited school instruments available for students with financial need. These requests will be dealt with on a first-come-first-served basis. You will be able to request a school instrument on the enrollment form. In order to borrow a school instrument, families must have completed their Family File and the DLES Instrument Borrowing Training.
